BCL6 can be used to label germinal center cells (benign and malignant), follicular lymphoma, diffuse large B-cell lymphoma, and most tumor cells in Hodgkin's lymphoma, which is dominated by nodular lymphocytes, but hardly to label mantle cell lymphoma and mucosa associated lymphoid tissue lymphoma (MALT). BCL6 and BCL2 are commonly used together to distinguish between vegetative follicles and benign proliferative follicles, and to help classify nested cell lymphoma and nodular lymphoid dominated Hodgkin's lymphoma.
