Background

CD146, also known as melanoma cell adhesion molecule (MCAM), is a cell adhesion molecule with a molecular weight of 113kDa. It is expressed in various human endothelial cells and is involved in tumor blood vessel formation and metastasis. It was initially found in malignant melanoma, but not in normal melanocytes. In addition, CD146 also widely exists in a variety of tissues and tumors. If expressed in intermediate trophoblastic cells, it can be combined with other antibodies for the identification of trophoblastic tumors.
