Background

Cytokeratin 8 (CK8) is a high molecular weight B-type cytokeratin, which mainly marks non squamous epithelium, Therefore, it is mainly used in the diagnosis of adenocarcinoma and ductal carcinoma. Squamous cell carcinoma generally does not express CK8. It has been reported that CK8 and CK18 are mainly expressed in hepatocellular carcinoma. Cytokeratin 18 (CK18) is a low molecular weight A-type cytokeratin with a molecular weight of 45kda. It mainly marks various monolecular epithelium, including glandular epithelium, while lamellar squamous epithelium is often negative, and is mainly used in the diagnosis of adenocarcinoma.
