Background

Galectin-3 is a homotype of cell adhesion lectin, which is a chimeric structure consisting of a β-galactosyl-binding protein (Galectin-3 domain) and a laminin. The main role of cell surface galectin-3 is related to the adhesion of similar cells, and it can down-regulate the expression of certain cecal and breast cancer-related proteins and promote the metastasis of these tumors.Studies have shown that it can be used in combination with Cytokeratin19 in the diagnosis of papillary thyroid adenocarcinoma, which is a very effective marker for anaplastic large cell lymphoma, and can also be used as a reference index for tumor progression.
