Background

Glutamine Synthetase (GS) is an enzyme that catalyzes the condensation of glutamate and ammonia to form glutamine, which is the main source of energy for tumor cells. GS is mainly expressed in astrocytes and hepatocytes. The expression of GS is increased in hepatocellular carcinoma, and it can be used in combination with Glypican and HSP70 for the differential diagnosis of hepatocellular nodules and hepatocellular carcinoma.
