Background

NSE is a kind of intracytoplasmic protein, which is a dimer in mammals. It has three subunits, α, β and γ. The γ subunit is mainly distributed in the central nervous system, peripheral nervous system, neuroendocrine cells and tumor cells, and shows diffuse cytoplasmic staining in positive cells. This antibody can specifically recognize 45kDa NSE and can be used in the auxiliary diagnosis of neuroendocrine tumors.Due to its poor specificity, some normal smooth muscle, myoepithelial cells, renal tubular cells and lymphocytes can also express NSE. Therefore, this antibody should not be used as a single diagnostic marker, but should be combined with other indicators to improve its diagnostic accuracy.
